Head of State Duma Energy Committee: “Tatarstan has advanced experience in using gas-engine fuel”

On November 26, Head of State Duma Energy Committee Pavel Zavalny held a session of the committee on issues of Russian fuel market and implementation of state policy in using natural gas as the engine fuel.

Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Kirill Molodtsov, and Director General of OOO “Gasprom gas-engine fuel” Mikhail Likhachev took part in the event.

According to Pavel Zavalny, total volume of gas consumption as engine fuel in Russia makes 400 mln cubic metres per year. In future conversion to gas fuel can make 15 per cent which will release 10 mln tones of oil products for foreign sales. He stressed that OAO KAMAZ is the largest manufacturer of trucks that can be run on gas-engine fuel.

In June 2013, OAO “Gasprom”, OOO “Gasprom gas-engine fuel” and the Republic of Tatarstan signed agreement on cooperation to expand use of natural gas as motor fuel. Tatarstan is one of the pilot regions in this area. The regional programme of the development of gas-engine fuel market for 2013-2023 is successfully realized in the republic.
