On November 7, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, Chairman of the Committee for physical culture, sport and youth affairs of Russian State Duma Dmitry Svishev, Russian Deputy Minister of Sport Yuri Nagornykh, President of World Rock 'n' Roll Confederation Miriam Kerpan Izak and President of Russian Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll federation Aleksei Vorobiev took part in a solemn opening ceremony of European and World Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll Championship in Kazan (November 7-8).
Opening the event, Mikhail Babich said that every year Russia hosts more and more international sports tournaments. He noted that though acrobatic rock 'n' roll is relatively new sport, Russian teams and sportsmen are among leaders.
The honoured guests noted that Kazan was chosen to host the championship after Russian Acrobatic Rock 'n' Roll Championship was successfully held in the city last December. More than 600 sportsmen from six countries, Russia, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary and Moldova will take part in the championship.
