On October 22, Tatarstan President and Head of the Federal Road Agency Roman Starovoit, Prime Minister of the republic Ildar Khalikov, Minister of Transport and Roads Lenar Safin took part in a solemn opening ceremony for 957 km - 970 km of the M7 Volga motorway after reconstruction.
The M7 Volga motorway between the Vyatka River and Yelabuga was built in 70s. Nowadays, substantial freight and passenger transportation is carried out on the motorway and the traffic flow is increasing.
Therefore, the Federal Road Agency decided to start a large-scale reconstruction in 2013 and convert 957 km - 970 km section into a four-lane motorway. The federal funds of 2.3 bln rubles were allocated for the reconstruction works. Due to the reconstruction the road capacity has increased twice, the traffic flow is expected to make 20, 000 cars per 24 hours, and the transport safety will increase.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Roman Starovoit for the support rendered by the agency and everyone, who took part in the reconstruction works.
