First BRICS Youth Summit opens in Kazan

First BRICS youth summit opened in Kazan on July 4. More than 200 delegates from Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa came to Kazan to take part in the summit.

Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Sergey Pospelov, Head of Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) Lyubov Glebova, and Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Anton Inyutsyn took part in the solemn opening ceremony.

Pospelov thanked Kazan leadership for hospitable reception, and delegates for coming. “This event symbolizes friendship between young people of our countries, which is the guarantee of our future and our long-term relations,” he said. He also read out the address of Russian President Vladimir Putin to participants of the summit: “It is the youth who will be preserving traditions of friendship and mutual respect that unite our people, finding new ways of efficient multilateral cooperation.”

Rustam Minnikhanov said that it is a great privilege for Tatarstan to host the summit.

“We are grateful to Russian leadership for choosing Kazan to host the BRICS Youth Summit. We have been looking forward to this event,” he said. Minnikhanov noted that many events aimed at creating good conditions for young people and educational environment have been held over the last years.
