Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in session of the Council of Volga Federal District in Samara

On June 25, during his working trip to Samara, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a session of the Council of Volga Federal District that was dedicated to ensuring national security, counteracting terrorism and extremism in modern conditions.
Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, first deputy head of National anti-terrorist committee Evgeny Ilyin, chief federal inspector in the Republic of Tatarstan Renat Timerzyanov, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin, heads of regions within Volga Federal District took part in the session.
Mikhail Babich said that the discussed topic is very important and current situation requires consolidation of all efforts of state authorities and civil society institutions in counteracting terrorism. The complex plan on counteracting terrorism in the Russian Federation for 2013-2018 was approved by Russian President on April 26.
According to Mikhail Babich, there have been no terrorist attacks in the district for the last two years, and effective system on prevention of terrorist attacks has been developed in cooperation with National anti-terrorist committee, federal Security Service, General Prosecutor’s Office, Russian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Babich stressed that terrorists are ready to use any chance to realize their plans and always monitor the situation in the district, trying to promote their ideology. Therefore, all vertical power structures, regional and municipal anti-terrorist commissions should be involved in counteracting terrorism.
