RT Minister of economy Marat Safiullin: public opinion polls enable to define reaction of population to changing of economic situation

In the Republic of Tatarstan percentage of respondents considered social and economic situation to be satisfactory in 2009 has increased. In 2008 they made up 56 % of total number of respondents. These are data of public opinion poll about satisfaction of population with main components of life quality and social, economic reforms underway.

RT Minister of economy Marat Safiullin informed journalists about main rates of the poll at a briefing in RT Cabinet. He reminded that social studies had been conducted by the Centre of perspective economic studies of RT Academy of sciences to fulfill assignment of RT President Mintimer Shaimiev.

By words of Marat Safiullin such studies have been held since 2005 in republic. About 2,2 thousand people belonging to different social categories from various municipal regions took part in the poll.

Thus, this year 27 % of respondents consider economic situation to be good, 14,6 % see it bad. In opinion of the majority, the world economic crisis is the main reason of worsening social and economic situation.

According to Head of RT Ministry of economy tension decreased in such sectors as health care, housing and communal services, ecology.

In comparison with 2008 people are most of all worried about unemployment and insufficient level of social care. At the same time 83,5 % of respondents have permanent employment.

At large, population highly assessed changes in the sphere of education. But still people are worried about absence of sufficient number of places in kindergartens, qualification of teachers, payment issues.

Number of people satisfied with higher education decreased from 70% to 63 %. Two problems are highlighted here: exactions on entering an institution and in the process of studying.

The leading problems in health care are queues in policlinics and complicacy in examination by particular specialists.

Only one third of citizens pay attention to quality of housing and communal services. More people consider that treatment facilities need to be modernized.
