Forum “Russia-sports power”

RT Minister of youth affairs, sport and tourism Marat Bariev told about preparation for Forum “Russia-sports power” at briefing in the RT Cabinet.

We remind that forum is planned to be opened on October,22. About 1700 people will take part in the event. President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev will make a speech at opening ceremony.

The following events will be held within the framework of forum on October, 23: the session of Council under RF President on developing physical culture and sport, sport of higher achievements, preparation and holding XXII Olympic winter games and XI Paralympic winter games 2014 in Sochi, XXVI World summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. State support of children and youth sport and training of Russian sportsmen for participation in the I summer Olympic youthful games 2010 in Singapore will be the main topics to be discussed at the session.

Heads of the largest sport federations will visit Kazan: Irina Viner (All-Russian Federation of calisthenics), Valentin Piseev (Russian Federation of figure skating), Vladislav Tretyak (Russian Federation of hockey), Vyacheslav Fetisov (twice Olympic hockey champion, senator).

More over such famous sportsmen as fourfold Olympic swimming champion Aleksandr Popov, threefold Olympic figure skating champion, Deputy of RF State Duma Irina Rodnina, Olympic Champion, chairman of RF State Duma committee on physical culture and sport Anton Sikharulidze, Olympic sport gymnastics champion, Deputy of RF State Duma Svetlana Khorkina will take part in the forum.

More than 400 volunteers will be attracted at forum. Tatarstan delegation will consist of 170 people.

By words of Marat Bariev Forum “Russia-sports power” will be held in accordance with RF President Decree.

Sponsors have been attracted for rendering financial help (including JSC “Tatneft”). Sport events within framework of forum are being financed by RF Ministry of sport.

By and large 100 mln. roubles will be spend for organization and holding the forum.
