Farid Mukhametshin: “In IT-sphere we are well on the way”

On February 11, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin addressed the meeting of the board of Ministry of informatization and communications of the Republic of Tatarstan devoted to the year-end 2014 results and goals for 2015.
Minister of informatization and communications of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov reported that at year-end 2014 the Tatarstan sphere of informatization and communications received 48 bln rubles of gross revenues, while the growth was over 4,5 percent in year-on-year terms. 5,3 bln rubles was invested into main assets of the communications enterprises. “The enterprises in the sphere of informatization and communications transferred 6 bln rubles to the budgets of Russia and Tatarstan,” – he said.

The average monthly earnings in the sphere was 28.745 rubles, the growth was 1,6 percent in year-on-year terms.

Head of the Rostelecom company Sergei Kalugin told about the project which will bring fiber-optic communications and Internet-access to remote Russian regions. Minister of communications and mass media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov called it “the world’s most ambitious project of its kind”, due to which the Internet-access in Russia might reach 80%.

Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin gave his own assessment of the development in the sphere. “Only yesterday we had problems in providing telephone access to our citizens, and now we are well on the way in IT-sphere,” he said. He emphasized the role of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of communications and mass media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov in this process. He also said that the meeting was attended by heads of many republican ministries and agencies and this proves the principal significance of informatization and computer technologies in all spheres of life.
