Rustam Minnikhanov: « No problems with potato procurement»

There will be no problems with procuring the population of republic with potato and other vegetables in current season. This was stated by RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov following the outcomes of visiting Baltasinsky, Kukmorsky and Sabinsky regions.

Present year, potato crops have occupied 97,1 thousand hectares of land area in all economy categories. Planned croppage - 1,6 million tons. As of September 13,38 percent of the areas have been harvested with average productivity of 152 centner per hectare.

Sabinsky region, where RT Prime Minister finished his working trip, exceeded average values on the main parameters. Current year, proceeding from last year successful experience, potato sowing crops were increased. Out of 1000 hectares for 10 days of harvesting, the crop has been gathered already on 500 hectares. Average productivity makes 200 centners/hectare. Thanks to a good weather, the agricultural organizations are working on fields 3 shifts.

Prime Minister remained satisfied by what he had seen on the fields of all regions « The crop of potato will be little bit less, than in the past year - because of weather conditions. Nevertheless, three core «potato» regions of the republic have slightly lowered a crop, but it turned out to be qualitative one - dry and free of disease. Therefore there will be no questions on providing population with potato», - Rustam Minnikhanov has assured the residents of republic.

«We have already planned autumn fairs - the first will take place on September 19. We start to sell both potato and vegetables in mass. I assure, that all plans both on potato and vegetables we will have performed », - Premier said.

In Rustam Minnikhanov's opinion, a serious rise in prices on «second bread» in Tatarstan is not expected. «I think that potato offer at the market is sufficient - both from private traders and large-scale enterprises. I do not think that there will be any price hikes, - head of the government counts. - now, we’ll carefully analyze pricing, but, I think, the prices over 6 roubles per kg of potato is unlikely».
