RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov: “It is necessary to find a right mechanism of regulating prices for medicines”

All-Russia meeting "Regulation of prices for medicines in Russian Federation" has been opened today in Kazan. RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the first session.

Prime Minister thanked Head of Federal tariff service Sergey Novikov for holding such large-scale event in the capital of Tatarstan.

Director of Department of social development of Russian government Nelly Naigovzina stressed that increase in prices for medicines surpasses total level of inflation in the country.

 Thus, by March 2009, the prices increased 29 % in comparison with 2008. She also said that in connection with this fact Russian government had approved the decree № 654 dated 8.08.2009 “About improving state regulation of prices for vital medicines”.

Head of Federal tariff service underlined that new mechanism of price control doesn’t mean complete refuse from market mechanisms. While speaking to journalists he said that new order of price formation will seriously influence the cost of the most important medicines.

Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, stressed that development of single pricing mechanism for vital medicines is essential for the whole Russia.
