Today the republican students festival “International Students Day” was held in the concert-hall of the Tatar State Philharmonic in Kazan. Chairman of the RT State Council, Chairman of the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, heads of universities, representatives of youth and student organizations, ethno-national diasporas and students attended the opening ceremony.
“The number of international students is increasing each year. I am sure that your choice of place of study was influenced not only by the high quality education that you can get here, but also by social and political stability, civil peace and inter-ethnic harmony in our republic,” Farid Mukhametshin said.
Tatarstan Parliament Speaker noted that celebration of a new student festival is predictable, as at present our universities are home to more than 6,000 international students from over 93 countries of the world. In addition, Kazan as one of the biggest science and education centers in Russia has close ties with many international research organizations.
Tatarstan has equal opportunities for preservation of traditions, culture, spiritual development and study of the native language for all peoples living in the republic. Great work has been done for the harmonization of inter-ethnic relations and strengthening of friendship between nations.
