On July 18, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, accompanied by Tatarstan Minister of Culture Airat Sibagatullin, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov, Member of Tatarstan State Council Razil Valeev and other officials, visited III International youth educational forum "Selet”, being held at Bilyar Historical and Archaeological Reserve Museum on July 15-20.
The distinguished guests looked around the tent camp established right on the meadow. About 5,000 children aged from 12 to 17 years old came from different Russian regions and foreign countries to take part in the forum. They live in tents, which are arranged in groups, depending on the region from which the forum participants came. Sinks, toilets, a large outdoor kitchen, classroom tents are provided for children. Workshops and meetings with famous cultural figures and businessmen are held every day.
“When I came here and was told, what topics you are discussing here, what tasks you are facing, I realized that it is very difficult even for me. I mean that this form is very democratic. There are no special conditions here, but the environment and people, who came here, is probebly the most important thing. When we come here, we also feel like part of you,” Tatarstan President said, addressing participants of the lecture at the Academy of Youth Diplomacy.
Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed participants of the forum and reminded that the Selet project was launched by activists in Arsk region 20 years ago. "This is one of the most, so to speak, intellectual centers, which brought together young talented leaders not only from our republic, but from other Russian regions and foreign countries as well,” Tatarstan President said, welcoming participants of the forum.
