Fifteen citizens from Tatarstan to do alternative civil service this year
08.04.2014
On April 8, at a briefing on the spring draft campaign at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers, Tatarstan Military Commissar Major General Sergey Pogodin said that 15 citizens from Tatarstan will be called up for alternative civil service in spring 2014.
In particular, seven people will do their alternative civil service at Russian Post office in Kazan, two draftees will serve in the Chelyabinsk Regional Clinical hospital, one man will be sent to the Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children in Orichi village (Kirov region).
According to Sergey Pogodin, quite a lot of young people from Tatarstan have been considered fit for military service over the last years. Muslyumovo, Cheremshan, Drozhzhanov, Kukmor, Sarmanov and other regions have traditionally shown a high percentage of the draftees (more than 80 per cent).
“Unfortunately, there are some regions with a fitness percentage lower than 70 and even 50 per cent. They are Alexeev, Mendeleev, Laishev, Rybnaya Sloboda and other municipal regions,” Tatarstan Military Commissar stated.
Sergey Pogodin also touched upon the problem of draft evasion. “Some evaders have been imposed an administrative penalty. They are more than one thousand. Twelve people have been brought to criminal responsibility,” he said.
The sending of draftees form collection points will start on May 14 in Tatarstan.
