Rais of Tatarstan meets Governor of Shandong Province

On 23 September, speaking at his meeting with the Governor of Shandong Province Mister Zhou Naixiangm, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of the province for having organized an informative and useful programme for a delegation from the republic. He noted unprecedentedly high level of relations between Russia and China and said they are an example of how relations between states should be built. 

As for Tatarstan, at its level it makes a substantial contribution into the development of Russia-China interaction and last year the foreign trade turnover of the republic reached a record high, having exceeded 3.3bn US dollars, he said. “In recent years China has become the key foreign investor in the economy of the republic. This figure has grown twentyfold and continues to rise,” the Rais of the republic noted. 

He reminded that Shandong was the first province with which Tatarstan signed a cooperation agreement already in 2008 and also told in detail about the education forum held in Shandong today, having emphasized that the republic is not just the leading industrial region but also an acknowledged leader in scientific and technological development.

Speaking about the established Russia-China University of Advanced Technologies, Rustam Minnikhanov said that he views this joint project not merely as an educational one, but primarily as a foundation for strengthening technological leadership of both countries. 

In his turn the Governor of Shandong Province thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his personal attention to cooperation and reminded that ties between two regions have a long history and their success is directly attributable to the Rais of the republic 

In the end of the meeting a number of agreements were signed between governmental organizations and companies of Tatarstan and Shandong Province.
