Andrey Kondratyev: The election system of Tatarstan is at a high state of readiness for the forthcoming elections

On 15 September, speaking at a briefing in the Tatarstan Government House, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the republic Andrey Kondratyev said that elections of members of the Russian State Duma of the ninth convocation will be held in the country on 18-20 September and the election system of Tatarstan is at a high state of readiness for the event.

He informed that all in all 450 will be elected, including 225 by the federal party lists and 225 by single mandate constituencies.

During the days of elections Tatarstan will also have additional elections of a member of the Tatarstan State Council from Vysokay Gora single mandate constituency and additional elections of members of the municipal executive bodies.

Andrey Kondratyev informed that there will be 65 territorial polling stations and more than 2 700 local polling stations and there are more than 2.9m voters in the republic, 43 thousand of which will cast their voting slips for the first time.

He said that there are also 42 temporary polling stations which will be located in policlinics, hospitals, resorts and in pretrial detention.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the republic added that those residents of Tatarstan who will not be able to come to polling stations because of illness, will be able to cast their votes at home. Moreover all voters also will be able to vote in 152 countries.

Local and territorial polling stations also practiced response procedures for drone and missiles threats during the voting days, Andrey Kodratyev stated.

He also informed that more than 5.8m voting slips has been prepared in two state languages of the republic – Russian and Tatar and 14 thousand observers, including 2 800 from the Public Chamber of the republic will monitor the election process.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission also added that five representatives of the CIS countries headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Kazakhstan Central election Commission Muhtar Yerman will come to Tatarstan.
