Rais of Tatarstan: Today about 2 500 people - sincerely dedicated to their job - work in the forestry industry of the republic

On 12 September in Saby region, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Deputy Head of the Federal Forestry Agency Vyacheslav Spirenkov and the regional Minister of Forestry Ravil Kuzyurov took part is a fest dedicated to the Day of Forestry workers and the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the state forestry management agency of Tatarstan.

After having watched the demonstration performances of professional skills competitions among forestry specialists and having got acquainted with the exposition by forestry enterprises from different regions of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated forestry workers with their professional holiday.

He expressed special gratitude to old stagers of the branch whose selfless labour laid the solid foundation for the development of forestry and dedication to the profession serves as a proper example for young specialists.

Having noted that today there are about 2 500 people working in the branch, the Rais of the republic said: “The profession of a forester is not just a job but a vocation. The forestry sector is close to my heart as well. My father Nurgali Minnikhanov was also a forester and headed the Saby timber enterprise. Then we had a tradition to have forest Sabantuys which is a very beautiful fest. This tradition should be preserved,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and stated that today the forestry of the republic is rapidly developing. Innovative technologies are being introduced into the sector, a high quality forest seed base has been established and nurseries are in operation, as well as the Forest and Seed Center in Saby region which is one of the largest in Europe.

He also informed about systemic work done in capital overhaul of forestry units facilities in the republic and said that one of the key spheres of the forestry development is protection of forest from wildfires. Thanks to the prompt work of the relevant services, not a single wildfire has occurred in the republic over the past several years, the Rais of the republic said.

Rustam Minnikhanov especially mentioned the contribution of foresters into the support of participants of the special military operation and welcomed those of them who were present at the festive event. 

In his turn Vyacheslav Spirenkov noted the efficiency of the forest management of Tatarstan and said: “For many years the republic occupies leading positions in the forestry sector. You are an example for the whole country and other regions of Russia look up to you.”

In conclusion of the ceremony the honorary workers and old stagers of the branch of the republic were handed in a number of state and Ministry awards.
