The Rais of Tatarstan visits the new Development Centre of a Russian component base in Kazan

On August 28, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Albert Karimov together with the President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of the republic Damir Galiev, Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin and other officials visited the branch of the federal state unitary enterprise "NAMI" – the Development Centre of the Russian component case, which is launched in Kazan at the Idea Technopark.

The Centre was established under the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the Domestic Automotive Industry and is aimed at designing, developing and putting into production critically important automotive components, as well as providing a full range of engineering services – from research and development work to the implementation of their results in production and maintaining serial supplies to automobile assembly plants.

The Centre for the Development is one of the infrastructure elements of NAMI and will operate in conjunction with the institute's existing divisions, including test sites and technical expertise laboratories.

In partnership with "IDEYA" Laboratory, as well as jointly with Kazan National Research Technological University, the new Centre has expanded its capabilities. Specialists are ready to carry out applied developments in a wide range of technological tasks, conduct research on the composition, structure and properties of materials in the context of import substitution and develop research methodologies tailored to specific customer requirements.

During the visit, Minnikhanov got acquainted with the center's infrastructure, including the laboratory for testing vehicle electrical systems and the engineering analysis laboratory, and development plans, including the launch of an electromagnetic compatibility laboratory and a laboratory for verification and validation testing of automotive components.

"NAMI" branch in Kazan will become part of the national network of engineering centers and will collaborate with leading technical universities. Plans include the development of joint participation in research and development work and the organization of efficient cooperation in technological entrepreneurship.

Another task of the Centre is personnel training and the development of resources and competencies across various engineering disciplines – designers, technologists, test engineers, tooling specialists, project management experts and quality management system specialists.

A trilateral agreement aimed at establishing a new research Center for the Development of the Russian Component Base at the Idea Technopark site was signed in February 2025. The project is being implemented in cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Government of Tatarstan and RUSNANO.
