Rustam Minnikhanov visits Rajab Mosque reconstructed in Kazan and congratulates the congregation with the Mawlid al-Nabi Holiday

On 25 August the Rais (Head) of TAtarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, the Chief of the Staff of the Rais Asgat Safarov and the Chairman of the Tatarstan Muslims Spiritual Board Kamil hazrat Samigullin took part in a ceremony dedicated to the Mawlid al-Nabi Holiday commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad held at the reconstructed Rajab Mosque in Kazan. 

Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated guests of the holiday and expressed his hope that it will make its contribution into preservation of our unity, inter-ethnic and inter-confessional concord and strengthen our traditional values. “Today at the birthday of Prophet Muhammad the reconstruction of the Rajab Mosque has been completed. By our joint efforts we have managed to preserve and renovate this facility,” he said and thanked everyone who took part in the building restoration. 

Rajab is the only preserved historical wooden mosque in Kazan built in 1897 and it has been recognized as the regional cultural heritage site.

In conclusion the Rais of the republic walked round the renovated mosque.
