Rustam Minnikhanov meets Metropolitan of Kerkira Nektarios

On 22 August in the Government House of the republic the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Metropolitan of Holy Metropolis of Kerkyra, Paxoi and Diapontioi Nisoi within the Church of Greece whose visit was dedicated to the brining of the reliquary containing the right hand of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous to Kazan on 17 August from the island of Corfu for the veneration and spiritual support of believers.

The faithful can venerate to the holy relic, which is on display at the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, till August 25.

Speaking at the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the Metropolitan for an opportunity for Orthodox believers of Tatarstan to venerate the revered holy relic and said: “Such events confirm that spiritual values unite people of different ethnicities and religions.”

The parties of the meeting held with participation of the Cyril, the Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan and the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Rais Asgat Safarov, also discussed issues of cooperation with the Metropolis of Tatarstan as well as inter-ethnic and inter-confessional concord.
