The Mayor of Moscow and the Rais of Tatarstan visit the KAMAZ Automaker plant during working trip to Naberezhnyye Chelny

On 20 August the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, who came on a working trip to Tatarstan, and the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the KAMAZ Automaker plant in  Naberezhnyye Chelny , where they looked round the main assembly line and talked to the staff of the enterprise.

Today the company capacity can produce up to 60 thousand vehicles a year and the Government of Moscow is one of its key ordering customers and partners, which has long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with the KAMAZ in various spheres.

At the polygon of the KAMAZ scientific and technological center Rustam Minnikhanov and Sergey Sobyanin looked round vehicles purchased by the Moscow government for city needs such as buses, electric buses, municipal maintenance vehicles for the Moscow urban economy complex, trucks and got acquainted with future samples of machinery for possible future procurements.

Speaking to journalists, Sergey Sobyanin said: “By an errand of the Russian President, we together with the KAMAZ solve issues of technological sovereignty of our country and implement a number of very serious projects.”

He named such projects as the municipal maintenance machinery, manufacture of electric buses, 2.5 million of which are already servicing millions of passengers, and the restoration of the Moskvich plant. Special projects are joint development by design bureaus, joint ventures in Moscow and the development of a united ecosystem, the Mayor of the Moscow added and expressed his gratitude to Rustam Minnikhanov: “We have long-term ties and long-term projects which we are implementing in all spheres of social and economic development. This helps us to overcome the most difficult periods in our life. We are always side by side, support each other and find opportunities for going ahead. Today both Tatarstan and Moscow are leaders of the country in the economic development and fostering high technologies.”

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Moscow is the largest consumer of produce of enterprises of the region.

The KAMAZ Director General Sergey Kogogin told journalists: “Moscow is a large and very interesting ordering customer for us as every time we solve some super task such as manufacture of an electric bus.  We had of course been working on this subject, but the requirements Moscow laid out – to develop a state-of-the-art electric bus – presented a real challenge for us. We managed to do this and continue developing it further.”

The share of Moscow in the total production volume of the KAMAZ reaches nearly 95 per cent in the electric bus segment and about 60 per cent in the bus segment which makes the order from the Russia capital a strategic one for the whole KAMAZ Group of Companies, which includes more than 100 enterprises in Russia, in the CIS and in foreign countries.
