25.12.2008

Shamil Gafarov, Head of RT Cabinet Office held videoconference meeting of Tatarstan Road Safety Commission. All municipal districts took part in the meeting.

Rifkat Minnikhanov, Head of State Road Safety Inspection Administration under RT Ministry of Interior reported on realization of federal target program “Improvement of road safety in 2006-2012” in Tatarstan. This program was approved on February, 6, 2006 (Decree of the Russian Government).

In its turn, Tatarstan Government confirmed organization-practical measures to improve road safety. Rifkat Minnikhanov announced that certain results have been achieved for 11 months in 2008. Analysis of accident rate testifies about the decrease of road accidents and injured people in comparison with 2006.

More than 20 items of material and technical aids for the sum of 312 million RUR were received from federal centre. More than 2 billion RUR were allocated from republic budget for federal target program.

Moreover, Rifkat Minnikhanov informed that some municipal districts didn’t follow the requirements while developing their own road safety programs. The main disadvantages are the usage of old program structures and absence of the documents which confirm program financing.

Rustam Nigmatullin, First Deputy Head of Kazan Executive Committee told that the roads for the sum of 4 billion RUR were repaired and constructed, 4 new pedestrian crossings were put into operation, and 1020 traffic signs were fixed in 2008.

Summing up, the members of Commission confirmed the working plan for 2009.
