Rustam Minnikhanov and Oksana Lut discuss development of agribusiness complex of Tatarstan

On 18 August at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut discussed results and prospects of the development of agribusiness of the republic, the harvest campaign progress , support measures and a number of other issues.

Last year agricultural production grew by 7.3 per cent in Tatarstan which is higher than that average in the country. The republic possesses high crop growing capacity and is the largest grain producer in the Volga Federal District. More than 500 thousand hectares have been harvested with about 2m tonnes of grain threshed during the current harvest campaign already.

The republic makes a substantial contribution into the development of cattle-breeding having increased milk production by 4.3 per cent up to 2.4m tonnes and meat and poultry production by 1.7 per cent in 2025 with preserving the positive dynamics in the current year.

The parties of the meeting also discussed the development of food industry and paid special attention to the development of rural territories of Tatarstan which received about 19.5bn rubles on implementation of the corresponding events for seven years.

The system of training specialists for the branch is also developing consistently with 42 agro-technical classes organized in rural schools last year and 60 more to be opened in the current year. During her working trip to Tatarstan, the Russian Minister of Agriculture also got acquainted with work of the Kazan State Agricultural University which trains specialists in veterinary, selection, genetics and specialists in automation and robotics, IT and big data.
