Rustam Minnikhanov meets Acting President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov

On 12 August in the Kazan Kremlin the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Acting President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov where he thanked his guest for having visited Kazan and his interest to cooperation with the republic.

“Relations between Russia and South Ossetia have always been of a special alliance character. A number of investment cooperation programmes are being implemented. There is interaction in political, defense, trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres. You have all capacity for expanding interaction with entities of Russia,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

“The history of relations between Tatarstan and South Ossetia spans decades. It is now necessary to step up efforts to increase trade turnover,” he said and also told that the republic is a petrochemical region with well-developed machine building, innovative technologies, agriculture, medicine, pharmaceuticals and tourism.

In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov invited a delegation from South Ossetia to visit international forums held in Tatarstan.

In his turn Marat Kamboov thanked the Rais of the republic for a warm welcome and said: “Tatarstan is an example for us of how it is possible to simultaneously preserve own national identity, traditions and culture and at the same time build modern, strong economy. Such experience is especially interesting for South Ossetia. We remember and are grateful for help given by Tatarstan to us after tragic events in August 2008. Today, acting on the instructions of the Russian President Vladimir Putin we can continue this story through constructive effort and joint work,” he said.

Accompanied by Rustam Minnikhanov, Marat Kambolov also visited the observation deck of the Kazan Kremlin where he took in the panoramic view of the city.
