26.07.2026

On 26 July, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who came on a working trip to Kazakhstan, accompanied by the Akim of North Kazakhstan region Gauez Nurmukhambetov visited the Din Muhammed Mosque in Petropavlovsk which is the oldest mosque of the city built in 1854. In the Soviet time all mosques and madrasahs of the city were closed while the one by the Din-Muhammed mosque was used as a student’s dorm since 1917 and was completely demolished in 1960-70.

Due to calls from the Tatar-Bashkir community it became possible to restore the building to its original purpose and its reconstruction was completed in 1998 and the minaret was re-erected in 2001. Today the Din Muhammed is an active mosque and the architectural monument of Petropavlovsk.

Later the same day Rustam Minnikhanov and Gauez Nurmukhambekov visited the center of the Kazakh poet, philosopher and educator Magjan Jumabaev located on the second floor of the regional architectural monument – the former 19th century house of a Tatar merchant Yangurazov which exhibits works of the thinker, his working office, has a conference room and a library.

The Center began its work in August 2025 and Rustam Minnikhanov and the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region laid flowers to the monument to Magjan Jumabaev erected in the backyard of the house.
