On 11 July upon his arrival to the Chuvash culture holiday Uyav in Cheremshan region,  the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was welcomed by girls in national costumes of main ethnicities of the region (Chuvash, Tatar, Russia, Mordva), who offered the guests traditional treats.

Having looked round national homesteads and a craftsmen fair, Rustam Minnikhanov empathized in his welcoming speech that Uyav is a bright and original holiday which has become a reflection of rich culture of the Chuvash and an example of spiritual and moral values of all peoples of our Fatherland.

Having named other ethnic cultural holidays already held in the republic, he stated that for Tatarstan it is important to preserve traditional culture and languages of ethnicities living in the republic.  “This is the heritage of all of multi-ethnic Russia—its pillar and spiritual core. Our peoples are united in labor, in military service, and in peaceful life. I am grateful to everyone who contributes to its preservation,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and handed in a number of state awards of the republic.
