Rustam Minnikhanov visits VIII All-Russia Re-enactment Festival “Elbadan”

On 28 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the VIII All-Russia Festival of Historical Re-enactment “Elbadan” held at the Village of Alvidino in Pestretsy region of the republic. 

The festival is held every year from 2019 and is dedicated to the re-enactment of events of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, namely the feat of the defender of the Brest Fortress Pyotr Gavrilov, born in the region. 

Upon his arrival to the village, Rustam Minnikhanov laid flowers to the Monument to Gavrilov and then, accompanied by the Director of the festival Nailya Tazieva, walked round interactive sites dedicated to heroes of Tatarstan during first days of the war and the industry of the republic during the war. 

Welcoming participants and organizers of the event, the Rais of the republic noted that the festival is dedicated to one of the most tragic and heroic pages of history of our country – to the Great Patriotic War and the feat of defenders of the Brest Fortress. 

“The memory of our heroes must live forever. This festival symbolizers our attitude toward the Great Patriotic War and speaks of love for the Motherland and respect for the defenders who secured our sovereignty and future. Our fellow countryman, Hero of the Soviet Union Pyotr (Mikhailovich) Gavrilov, stands as a model of steadfastness and devotion to military duty. When we were in Belarus we were fortunate enough to visit the Brest Fortress memorial complex. Today we have a Belarus delegation here with us. I thank all participants and organizers of the festival for their work, enthusiasm and commitment to preservation of historic memory. We will continue supporting this festival,” he concluded.
