On 27 June, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov reported about current work on forage conservation, having informed that as of today 103 thousand tonnes of hay and 994 thousand tonnes of haylage have been conserved which makes 7.5 centners of forage units per cattle capita.

As many as 214 thousand hectares out of the planned 200 thousand hectares of perennial grasses have been mowed down which makes 72 per cent of the plan while five regions have not mowed down even the half of the areas, the regional Minister said.

Addressing heads of farms, Marat Zyabbarov reminded:” Every day of delay in forage harvesting results in a loss of nutritional value, leading to reduced productivity and increased costs for purchasing feed additives.”

Having told about work in forage conservation at private farmsteads, Marat Zyabbarov also informed about the readiness of farms to the harvest campaign which is planned to start in the beginning of July as the first winter rapeseed crops are already reaching the ripening stage. The total area for winter rapeseed harvesting will amount to 37.4 thousand hectares.

He also said that there are more than 3 100 grain harvesters at farms and their readiness is 90 per cent, he concluded.
