On 26 June, in his address on occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Anti-Drug Commission of the republic, wrote: “ On 26 June the whole world marks the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which was established in 1987 as an expression of the determination of the UN General Assembly to intensify its efforts and create a global society free from drug abuse. “
Having noted the danger and consequences of drug abuse, Rustam Nigmatullin continued: “Our country is taking consistent and real steps to improve the state anti-drug policy, development of its legislative basis which facilitates ramping up work in this sphere and decreasing the scale and consequences of drug abuse
By fostering a conscious negative attitude within society toward drug use and involvement in illicit drug trafficking, the state implements law enforcement and preventive measures.
Special attention is given to the prevention of drug abuse by teenagers and young people, to raising awareness about the harmful consequences of drug use, and the creation of conditions for active and beneficial leisure activities.
The issue of combating drug addiction should not leave a single person on Earth indifferent. Only by joint efforts it is possible to protect the younger generation from this calamity.
In this day I wish you the most important thing – value your life and health. Choose sports, creative work and healthy future,” he concluded.
