Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a meeting of the Russian President on issues of the development of domestic aviation industry

On 24 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minikhanov took part in a meeting on issues of the development of domestic aviation industry held by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Flight Research Institute named after M.M. Gromov. 

Speaking at the meeting the Leader of the state emphasized that the aviation industry has a special meaning as transport links, the connectivity of regions across this vast country, and the speed and convenience of travel for citizens depend directly on its condition. “What is important is that the ability to build the whole range of military and commercial planes is one of the key indicators of the technical, scientific and industrial sovereignty of the country,” he said. 

Vladimir Putin stated the importance of building up the existing competencies and strengthening the technological independence in this sphere. “ When there appeared problems with the wings of the MS-21, this pushed the entire program back by nearly two years, but our company—in this case, Rosatom—nevertheless managed to handle the task,” the Russian President noted.

Taking into consideration the current situation, the Leader of the country declared the necessity of taking further steps for the development of commercial aviation: “Today the demand for flights, cargo plane transportation from both the population and the participants of the economic activity is growing, both on domestic and foreign flights. The demand is very high. The task of the government, aviation companies and the aviation industry is to create conditions for increasing the amount of passengers’ plane transportation and to increase the flights safety and comfort. Cargo transportation also should not be forgotten.”

Vladimir Putin said that the increase of domestic manufactured planes was the key condition for that. “There is no any doubt that by joint efforts of the government, aircraft manufacturers and air companies we will do everything necessary for the Russian air companies to use mostly our own domestic planes for flights,” he added.
