Rais of Tatarstan takes part in a meeting of Russian President with Prime Minister of Singapore

On 18 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN Summit in Kazan, where the Russian President noted that Russia and Singapore interact at many international platforms first of all in the UN. Russia-Singapore relations are traditionally marked for mutually respectful and pragmatic character and for keeping a continuous dialogue in mutually interesting spheres. Coordination is being carried out to respond to common challenges and threats, in particular in the area of ​​ensuring international information security, he said.

“There is still a substantial potential in the economic sphere, which has not yet been fully implemented, in part due to the restrictions introduced. Yet channels for business communication remain open. In April of the current year Singapore hosted the regular meeting of the Russian-Singaporean business dialogue. We welcome participation of the Singaporean delegation in the 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum and will be happy to see your representatives at other multilateral events organized in Russia,” Vladimir Putin said.

In his turn Lawrence Wong stated that this is his first visit to Russia.” We had wonderful discussions within the framework of the Russia-ASEAN Summit.  Singapore welcomes Russia's support for the central role of ASEAN and your active engagement with the Association. We look forward to close interaction with Russia in the interests of finding areas of practical cooperation, particularly when we take over the ASEAN Chairmanship next year,” the Singaporean Prime Minister said.

He also told about a meeting with the Rais of Tatarstan which he had earlier on 18 June and added: “We have very close ties with Tatarstan and we would like to continue and to further develop relations with other regions of Russia”.
