Rustam Minnikhanov discusses issues of cooperation in transport sphere with Director General of the Capital A, the co-founder and Counselor of the AirAsia Group Toni Fernandes

On 4 June on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Director General of the Capital A, the co-founder and Counselor of the AirAsia Group Toni Fernandes.

The Company works in aircraft, logistics, fintech and food industries and proposes commercial air transportation, engineering services, rental of aircraft equipment, drone pilot training and related services, as well as cargo transportation services.

The Co-founder of the Company told that the AirAsia is a major Asian airline that operates domestic and international flights to more than 400 destinations in 25 countries and proposed to consider potential launching of flights to Kazan. Such step will strengthen a link between Tatarstan and South-East Asia through the vast regional network of the AirAsia.

In his turn, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the republic is interested in cooperation with the company, in particular in using the AirAsia opportunities for organizing direct flights.

“Tatarstan is actively investing in the development of transport infrastructure, paying particular attention to aviation as a key link in integrating the region into international logistics and tourism routes,” he said and gave an errand to the relevant ministry to study and work out this issue in detail.
