On 23 May the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov received two Alabay puppies as a gift from the National Leader of the Turkmen People, the chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who visited Kazan to take part in the KazanForum a week ago. During his visit he was shown how Akdus, the Alabai puppy he gave to Rustam Minnikhanov in 2021, grew up. Inspired by success of Akdus in various competitions, the National Leader of the Turkmen people decided to send two more Alabai dogs to the republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov asked the Vice-President of the International Association “Turkmen Alabais” Batyr Rejepov, who passed the Rais of the republic the certificate for the dogs, to pass words of gratitude and deep respect to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. “We are grateful to Gurbanguly (Mälikgulyýewiç) for having visited the KazanForum. He promised to send two dogs and they are here with us today. I express words of gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and to all brotherly Turkmen for special attitude to our republic,” he said.

The Turkmen Alabai is a national symbol of pride and a treasure of Turkmenistan. This breed is considered one of the oldest in the world. Historians have known about the breed for over 4,000 years.
