Rais of Tatarstan gives and errand to organize regional ethnic fests at a high level

On 23 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to organize regional ethnic fests at a high level.

He stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin proclaimed 2026 the Year of National Unity and said: “Since time immemorial, our multinational people have worked together and celebrated significant events together. The spring-summer period of traditional culture festivals opens today with the Russian folk festival Karavon, which will be held in Laishevo region.”

Regional fests of Mari, Mordovian, Udmurt, Chuvash, Slavonic and Tatar cultures will continue the calendar of festive events and Rustam Minnikhanov gave an errand to heads of cities and regions, the Minister of Culture of the republic and the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan to organize folk fests at the highest level and together with law enforcement bodies ensure security during their celebrations.

Next week on 27 May Muslims all over the world will celebrate Eid al-Adha and religious riots as well as slaughter of sacrificial animals will continue for three days. “The Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic, municipalities and law enforcement bodies must ensure protection of public order and safety during festive religious services and together with the Pospotrebnadzor and the veterinary service control that slaughter of sacrificial animals is carried out at designated sites in compliance with sanitary and veterinary requirements,” Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.
