On May 14, at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre on the sidelines of the Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, met with a Turkish delegation headed by Turkish Deputy Trade Minister Sezai Uçarmak .

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan has traditionally attached great importance to the development of cooperation with Turkey.

This is due to the active exchanges of delegations and well-established contacts with the leadership of Turkey, the productive work of the Turkish Consulate General and Trade Attaché in Kazan, as well as the Plenipotentiary Representation of Tatarstan in Istanbul. Direct flights between the sides are underway, and Turkish investors are well acquainted with Tatarstan.

“Your country is one of Tatarstan’s leading foreign partners. We pay special attention to our trade turnover, which exceeded $4.5 billion last year,” the Rais of the republic said.

He also noted that Turkish companies have invested around $2 billion in the republic. Turkish manufacturing facilities are successfully operating in the region, while investment projects in the hospitality construction sector are also being implemented.

Rustam Minnikhanov conveyed his best wishes to President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and expressed gratitude for his attention to the development of cooperation with Tatarstan under the Russian–Turkish relations.

Sezai Uçarmak highly praised the organization of KazanForum and noted that Turkey had sent a large delegation to participate in the event.

“This is my first visit to Kazan—a wonderful city with a rich history. Your republic has created the most comfortable conditions for investors. A significant share of Turkish investment is directed specifically to Tatarstan. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to grow stronger,” the Turkish Deputy Trade Minister said.
