Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a ceremony of handing in B. Tikhomirov Award in Moscow

On 27 April the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Head of the Glavgosexperiza (the General Directorate of State Expertise) of Russia Igor Manylov and representatives of the Rostec State Corporation and the Russian Engineering Union of took part in a ceremony of handing in B. Tikhomirov Award in Moscow. The Award was established in memory of the outstanding Soviet and Russian designer Boris Tikhomirov by the Russian Engineering Union with the support of Russian Ministry of Construction and the Government of Tatarstan in 2022 and is awarded annually on a competitive basis to employees of the construction industry for projects that make a significant contribution to the design and construction of industrial facilities and the implementation of advanced engineering solutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Rais of the republic said that the handing in the award has become already a traditional event and that dedication and hard work of this man is a worthy example for everyone. With Boris Tikhomirov, the Giproniiaviaprom became a nationally renowned design organization for the defense industry, and today the role of engineers and builders is crucial to the economy, he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov also reminded that despite the difficult situation the construction branch of the republic demonstrates good results and last year the amount of construction exceeded 1bn rubles with a huge share falling on industrial construction. He also informed about implementation of 48 regional programmes, national projects and state programmes in the republic and concluded: “Together we can cope with any task.”

In his turn Igor Manylov said: “The sheer magnitude of personality of Boris (Ivanovich) Tikhomirov and the award in his honor are a powerful motivating factor. We desperately need such role models and such examples of dedication to the profession. The main significance of the award is the opportunity to revive the Russian engineering school. That is why we, experts, are grateful to all those who strive to meet the high standards of Russian engineers and designers.”

In the current year the award was given to 18 specialists from 15 organizations.
