Rustam Minnikhanov meets President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi

On 14 April in Cairo the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who, welcoming his guest, stated that he has warm feelings for Russian President Vladimir Putin and is sincerely pleased with the friendly relations with Tatarstan. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Rustam Minnikhanov on Kazan being awarded the status of the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2026 and expressed interest in cooperation in the field of culture.

The Egyptian President also expressed his readiness to expand cooperation in the spheres of industry, agriculture, education and tourism. “We highly appreciate the contribution you make into the development of relations of Russia with the Islamic world countries,” he said. 

In his turn, Rustam Minnkhanov noted that the republic attaches great attention to the development of partners of Russia in the Islamic world. “Our republic is making a substantial contribution into strengthening Russia-Egypt ties and the amount of Tatarstan-Egypt trade turnover is bright evidence to that. Last year it grew more than 8.5 times and reached 230m dollars US,” he said. 

The Rais of the republic also informed that even though, historically a number of large industrial enterprises of Tatarstan  work with Egypt, there is a high interest to expanding the range of goods, in particular in such spheres as agribusiness, automotive building, IT and healthcare. He also expressed his readiness to share experience and developments in such spheres as digitalization, industrial parks and special economic zones. 

Speaking about humanitarian cooperation, Rustam Minnikhanov shared his impressions from having visited the branch of the Kazan Federal University which was opened in Cairo by the decree of the President El-Sisi. 

Rustam Minnikhanov also spoke about the work of the Russia-the Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, which he heads on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin and thanked President El-Sisi for active work of the representative of Egypt -the Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA).
