Rustam Minnikhanov visits the Grand Egyptian Museum

On 13 April during his working trip to Egypt, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Grand Egyptian Museum which was solemnly opened with participation of Presidents of 18 countries, 12 kings and  supreme rulers, eight Prime Ministers and 40 Ministers and Parliamentary speakers in the end of the last year.

The Museum covers the area of nearly 50 thousand square meters and has more than 100 thousand artifacts in its collection, covering seven thousand years history of Egypt from first settlements in the Nile valley to the Roman-Greek period.

During his visit to the Museum Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with the main exhibit – the Tutankhamun mask which is a funerary mask made of gold, lapis lazuli, and semi-precious stones and weighs more than 10 kilos.

The mask is the national treasure of Egypt.
