Rustam Minnikhanov: We have organized the Gagarin Decade in Tatarstan first of all for the growing generation

On 12 April at a regular meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov gave a number of errands.

“Tomorrow on 12 April the Orthodoxy are celebrating one of the important Christian Holidays – the Easter. I congratulate all believers! Traditional Easter services will take place in all cathedrals of the republic gathering big numbers of congregation. The corresponding services must take enhanced measures aimed at ensuring fire safety and maintaining public order in religious buildings and on their territories,” he said.

The Rais of the republic also reminded about the Space Exploration Day held on the upcoming Sunday and about the First Space week dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Yuriy Gagarin space flight held all over Russia.

“In the republic, we are holding the "Gagarin Decade in Tatarstan," which includes a range of educational and cultural events on space topics, primarily for the younger generation. Tatarstan has made a huge contribution into the Soviet space programme as the main designer of the Soviet space exploration – Sergey Korolev and Valentin Glushko – worked in Kazan and the Kazan Aircraft Institute organized the first jet engines department in Russia, the enterprises of the republic produced components and units for space branch,” Rustam Minnikhanov said and reminded that the Chief Designer of the multiple-use cargo transport system “Energia-Buran” Sergey Gubanov graduated  the Kazan Aircraft Institute.

In addition the Hero of the Russian Federation , pilot-cosmonaut Sergey Ryzhikov, who completed his third multi-day space flight in December last year, was born in Bugulma in Tatarstan, he concluded.
