Briefing on medical check-ups results held in Tatarstan Government House

On 24 March, speaking at a briefing on achievements of preventive medicine last year and plans for 2026 held in the Government House of the republic, representatives of Tatarstan Healthcare Ministry said that medical check-ups are proving their effectiveness in preserving the health and lives of residents of the republic.

Thus the regional Healthcare Minister Almir Abashev informed: “Over the past five years, a clear course has been set to ensure that preventative medicine in the country gains momentum. Starting from 2022 the number of people who should have their medical check-ups in this or that year is growing. We are facing a task of covering more than 70 per cent of elderly people with check-ups by 2030.”

In 2025 as many as 1 463 809 people passed medical checkups, which helped to reveal 126 000 new cases of various diseases, including cardio-vascular, oncological and diabetes , he said and added that more than 193 000 workers of industrial enterprises and more than 300 000 rural residents also passed various preventive check-up last year in the republic.

Speaking about plans for 2026, Almir Abashev told about reproductive health check-ups and blood lipid profile testing for the prevention of atherosclerosis in those under 40 as well as checkups for HPV.

The chief external cardiologist of the regional Ministry Zulfiya Kim told about incidence of cardio-vascular diseases in the republic and said: “We invite you to a medical examination from the age of 18, even if you do not experience any problems with your cardiovascular system.”

The Chief external oncological specialist of the Ministry Eduard Nagumanov  told about incidence and kinds of cancers mostly revealed in the republic and added that the screening technology works effectively when key conditions are met: screening coverage of at least 70% and regularity of at least once every two years.

In conclusion of the briefing Almir Abashev said there are three key areas for preventive measures: providing accessible care, technological advancement and public communication.

“Our task is to cover 100% of newly diagnosed diseases with dispensary observation. But patients still need to pay attention to the diagnoses given by doctors and register in a timely manner,” he emphasized.
