Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan forest resources are growing every year

On 21 March, speaking at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the International Forest Day is celebrated today and informed that more than 2 300 residents of the republic work in this branch today providing daily conservation, protection and restoration of forests.

“We congratulate our forest rangers! Due to your work reforestation work was carried out on the area of over 5,300 hectares in Tatarstan last year alone. Forest resources are not just preserved but growing every year. I express special thanks to our forest rangers and the staff of the Emergencies Ministry for having prevented wild fires in recent years. Protecting, preserving and increasing forests is the responsibility of each of us,” the Rais of the republic said.

He emphasized that the industry is upgrading equipment, introducing unmanned systems, and implementing programs to repair forestry and forestry enterprise buildings with the support of the republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov also congratulated with the Navruz Holiday being celebrated on 21 March this year and which symbolizes awakening of the earth and the beginning of spring. It is inscribed into the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List and has been historically celebrated by the Tatars and the Bashkirs in the Volga region. “Heads of municipalities and cities should assist in their implementation and, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, to ensure the necessary security conditions,” he added.
