Rustam Minnikhanov celebrates Eid al-Fitr in the renovated mosque of the Aybash Village in Vysokaya Gora region

On 20 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a festive prayer on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr held in the renovated wooden mosque of the Aybash Village in Vysokaya Gora region of the republic. This is one of the main Muslim holidays marking the end of the Lent during the holy month of Ramadan and in the beginning of the prayer the Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic, the Chief Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin read out a congratulation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated that Russian Muslims deeply respect historical and spiritual traditions of their ancestors. “Special words of gratitude are to followers of Islam who  fight shoulder to shoulder with their comrades in arms for the freedom and independence of the Motherland, and provide support to the families and friends of the heroes,” Vladimir Putin wrote. 

Then, after having read out a congratulatory address from the Rais of the republic, Kamil Samigullin spoke in his sermon about merits and wisdom of Ramadan, value of keeping Lent and called for good deeds also after the holy month has finished. 

The mosque of the Aybash Village is a unique monument of wooden architecture of the second half of the 19th century and its restoration began in 2023 using funds from philanthropists.
