On 19 March in his address on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday and the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated residents of the republic and compatriots with the holiday and wrote: ”This sacred holiday which marks the triumph of faith, spiritual perfection, mercy and compassion fills the hearts of Muslims with joy and creative energy throughout their lives. During Lent, believers strictly followed the precepts of goodness, performed good deeds, and showed concern for their neighbors. And today, with special zeal, we turn to the Almighty with prayers of thanksgiving, in which we ask for the bestowal of health, well-being, and prosperity for our native republic.
Multi-century traditions of celebrating Eid al-Fitr contain great wisdom which we need today more than ever.
This year our ancient Kazan celebrates Eid al-Fitr in a special status of the cultural capital of the Islamic world. And we appeal to our numerous fellow believers with a call to do everything possible for strengthening the unity of Muslim umma, developing a civilizational and cultural dialogue and uniting all good will people around eternal moral values.
In Tatarstan, where interreligious and interethnic harmony is especially valued and preserved, Eid al-Fitr, like all Muslim, Orthodox and other holidays, is celebrated in an atmosphere of universal mutual understanding and respect. This gains special meaning in the Year of Unity of People of Russia and the Year of Military and Labour Valor.
May the Almighty accept all our prayers and good deeds on this wonderful day, and fill our souls with faith, mercy, and love!”
In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov wished everyone peace, happiness, goodness and prosperity.
