Rustam Minnikhanov meets Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party

On 19 March, during his working trip to Wuhan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has a meeting with the Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Mister Wang Zhonglin. 

The Province is located in the central China and is an important transport hub as it is in the basin of the Yangtze River. In the whole Hubei is the key innovations center of China housing eight large scientific and technical infrastructure facilities, 45 key national laboratories and 547 new scientific research institutes. 

Speaking at the meeting, the Rais of the republic said that Tatarstan makes its contribution into expanding cooperation between Russia and China and this is facilitated by mutual visits and cooperation agreements signed at the regional level. 

“The Council on interregional cooperation in the Volga-Yangtze format, of which Hubei is a participant of, is good for work and has become an efficient platform for establishing direct contacts between representatives of business and power bodies of regions of both countries, for discussing prospects of the development of joint projects and exchanging experience in digitalization, education and industry,” he emphasized. 

The provincial capital, Wuhan, is known as the "Optical Valley of China" and is a world center for the production of optical fiber and cables, as well as laser equipment and high-precision sensors for telecommunications, medicine, and the automotive industry.

In conclusion, Rustam Minnikhanvo stated that there are many spheres for interaction of business circles of both countries and the Forum held in Wuhan will facilitate it.

In his turn Mister Wang Zhonglin welcomed Rustam Minnikhanov and thanked him for the visit. “We are happy to welcome you.  We are especially pleased with your visit. Your personal participation in the business forum is a good start for establishing business relations between regions of Russia and China,” he emphasized. 

The Secretary stated that Hubei and Tatarstan have much in common and told about projects already implemented including those in humanitarian sphere, such as active cooperation of Kazan Federal University and Wuhan universities. 

The parties of the meeting also discussed a necessity of launching a direct flight. 

In conclusion of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov reminded about the MOU signed by the Government of Tatarstan and the People’s Government of Hubei Province last year and proposed to prepare and sign a full-fledged intergovernmental agreement.
