Rustam Minnikhanov: During years of his work Farid Mukhametshin has gained huge authority

On 17 March the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the State Counselor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the 17th session of the regional State Council where its Chairman Farid Mukhametshin declared his early termination of powers.  “This decision was deliberate and considered. In politics, as in any field, there must be continuity. The past 30 years, during which I have been at the helm of the parliament, have been for me a period of great responsibility, intense work and, at the same time the period filled with pride for our parliament, for our republic and for those who by their work make a substantial contribution into the development of the native republic – a backbone region of Russia,” Farid Mukhametshin said.

He thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his trust, permanent support and attention. He expressed special words of gratitude to Mintimer Shaimiev, members of the State Council and the electorate. 

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that during years of his work Farid Mukhametshin has gained huge authority. “Farid (Khayrullovich) stays with us and I think his advice and authority are in great demand as it is huge experience and besides the Parliament he also worked with the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan and municipalities,” he said. 

The Rais of the republic sincerely thanked Farid Mukhametshin for support and fruitful joint work with the deputy corps for many years and handed him in the Order “For Services to the Fatherland”, 2nd degree, for large contribution in strengthening Russian statehood, development of parliamentary activity and active legislative work.

Minitimer Shaimiev noted that Farid Mukhametshin has made the contribution into the development of the republic. “Our work is full of difficult moments. However, a unique working atmosphere has developed within this team. Mutual respect and deep understanding help to preserve high trust of our people,” the State Counselor of the republic said.

By a decision of members of the Council Farid Mukhametshin was elected the Honorary Chairman of the State Council of the republic while his current Chairman Marat Akhmetov, was entrusted the duties of the Chairman.
