Rustam Minikhanov meets Governor of Amur region Vasiliy Orlov on sidelines of the Winter Games ZimFestAmur

On 28 February at his meeting with the Governor of the Amur region Valisiy Orlov in the House of Russia-China Friendship in Blagoveshchensk, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnihanov, who is currently on a working trip to the region, thanked his counterpart for having invited a delegation from the republic to the ZimFestAmur Festival and said: “Traditionally, culture and sport make a significant contribution to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Russia and China, including that at the regional level. It is important that our peoples, especially our youth, have a unique opportunity to get to know each other’s customs and traditions, as well as to demonstrate their sporting spirit.”

After the parties of the meeting discussed issues of social and economic cooperation and the development of ties between the regions, Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that despite geographic remoteness, the interaction of the regions is progressing. “Together, we need to identify mutually beneficial areas for developing cooperation where we can be of maximum benefit to each other. Tatarstan is interested in increasing supplies of produce of mechanical engineering and trucks manufacture, chemical and petrochemical complexes, the food industry, consumer goods, and medical supplies. We also have developments in the field of energy saving. Our regions also have good opportunities for developing ties in the spheres of education and science, culture, youth policy, sport and tourism,” he said.

In conclusion of the meeting the Rais of the republic invited Vasiliy Orlov and a delegation from the Amur region to take part in the 4th International Forum ”ROSTKI: Russia and China – mutually beneficial cooperation” to be held in Kazan in August 2026 and the International Digital Forum “Kazan Digital Week” planned for September this year.
