Rustam Minnikhanov arrives on a working trip to Amur region

On 27 February upon his arrival on a working trip to the airport of Blagoveshchensk, the Amur region, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was welcomed by the Governor of the region Vasliy Orlov. During his stay in the region the Rais of the republic plans to visit a number of facilities and historical sites and to take part in a ceremony of opening the International Russia-China festival of winter kinds of sports “ZimFestAmur” to be held on 28 February and 1 March on ice of the Amur River on the Russia-China border.

Tatarstan has sent a team of young (9-10 years old) hockey players from the Ak Bure (White Wolf) sports school (Kazan) to participate in the Winter Games in Blagoveshchensk. In the opening match, they will meet their peers from the Heilongjiang Province and Anhui Province teams (PRC).

The legendary KAMAZ Master team from Naberezhnye Chelny will take part in the truck demonstrations and ice drift and four residents of the republic will take part in winter swimming competitions in the cold of the Amur River where they will compete for victory in the 25- and 50-meter races and the team relay.

The creative delegation from the republic will participate in the cultural programme of the festival, where an exhibition of folk arts and crafts will be organized for ZimFestAmur participants and guests.

The festival, which is held since 2017 has become one of the key events in Russia-China sport cooperation, and about 300 athletes took part in it in 2025.

An Agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and socio-cultural cooperation between the Administration of the Amur Region and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan has been in force since 2006.According to the Agreement Tatarstan supplies the Amur Region primarily with oil and oil products, mineral and chemical fertilizers, trucks and spare parts, construction tools and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and various agricultural products. Currently more than 100 students from the region are studying at Tatarstan universities.
