Address from Rustam Minnikhanov on the occasion of the Day of Defender of Fatherland

On 23 February in his address to residents of the republic dedicated to the Day of Defender of Fatherland, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone with the event and wrote: “On 23 February we pay tribute to all who have served and continue to serve the country, ensuring its sovereignty, and continuing its historical victorious traditions. Tatarstan is famous for its heroes who have fought bravely for our Fatherland at all times, demonstrated heroism and courage, and performed feats both at the front and in the rear. 

My special words of thanks to our dear WWII veterans who, with incredible efforts and without sparing themselves, defended freedom and gave life to future generations.  Their dedication and perseverance will continue to serve as a high moral compass for all of us.

Heroes of modern time, who under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, National Leader Vladimir Putin courageously fulfill their military duty, continue the deed of the generation of Victors. The entire republic supports our defenders, just as during the Great Patriotic War, we ensure a strong rear and produce everything necessary for the front. 

Our duty to all fallen defenders of the Motherland, to all who defend it today, is to be worthy of their exploits, to pass on the ideals of honor and faithful service to the Fatherland to future generations.

In order to preserve historical memory, strengthen civil solidarity and as a sign of respect for all generations of defenders of the Fatherland and home front workers, 2026 has been declared the Year of Military and Labor Valor in Tatarstan.”

In conclusion he wished everyone good health, strength and cheerfulness of spirit and once again congratulated with the holiday.
