Rustam Minnikhanov: Naberezhnyye Chelny makes a substantial contribution into economy of Tatarstan

On 16 February, speaking at a meeting of the Naberezhnyye Chelny City Council, which summarized results of the social and economic development of the city in 2025, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that Naberezhnyye Chelny makes a substantial contribution into economy of Tatarstan. 

Before the meeting, at a specialized exhibition, the Rais of the republic got acquainted with produce of local enterprises, projects implemented in the fields of education, healthcare, youth policy, social and labor adaptation of veterans of the North Caucasus Military District and evaluated the new models of the KAMAZ model range. Rustam Minikhanov and the Director General of the KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin also handed in a new bus to the team of the Masterovyye Theatre for organizing tours.

Speaking at the meeting about results of 2025, the Mayor of Naberezhnyye Chelny Nail Magdeev reported that despite difficult situation enterprises of the city are increasing their production volumes, with SMEs output having reached 736bn rubles. 

He also informed about more than 18bn rubles spent on construction and capital overhaul of social facilities and infrastructure, 1.7bn rubles allocate on renovation of the engineering networks, new infrastructure for the public transport and substantial funds allocated for the improvement of the road infrastructure.

The Mayor of the City also told about work being done in the spheres of healthcare, education and the establishment of the first in Russia Association ”The City Council of Veterans of the Special Military Operation.

In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov stated that the meeting is taking place in a remarkable date as it was this day when 50 years ago the first KAMAZ truck rolled off the main assembly line. “Today KAMAZ is the largest automotive corporation of Russia which is among 20 world heavy truck producers and is the leader in the manufacture of domestic trucks and buses and the development of electric and manless cars. The Company makes a huge contribution into strengthening the defense capability and the technological leadership of the country. The famous KAMAZ Master team is our pride,” he said. 

The Rais of the republic emphasized that history of the automotive giant and Naberezhnyye Chelny are inseparable and stated the huge contribution of the city into the economy of the republic with its GRP having exceeded 550bn rubles. Having noted that about 40 per cent of the whole industrial output comes from the KAMAZ, he mentioned other enterprises that are developing successfully in Naberezhnyye Chelny.

Having informed about implementation of national projects and regional programmes in the city, Rustam Minnikhanov attracted special attention to the condition of its communal engineering networks and informed that last year 12.6bn rubles were allocated on their modernization.

In his speech the Rais of the republic also touched issues of the public transport development, renovation of medical facilities, ensuring public order and safety and providing land plots to families with many children. 

In conclusion Rustam Minnikhanov handed in a number of state awards.
