Rustam Minnikhanov: Ceremonial events dedicated to 120th birthday of the outstanding son of Tatar people Musa Jalil to be held in the republic

On 14 February at a meeting held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov gave a number of errands. Thus he reminded that on 15 February the republic will be celebrating the 120th birthday of the outstanding son of Tatar people, the poet and the hero Musa Jalil and gave an errand to the regional Ministry of Culture and municipalities to hold corresponding events at the high level. “The poet is a bright example of real patriotism and dedicated love to the Motherland,” he said.

“Tomorrow on 14 February we also celebrate the 37th anniversary of the withdrawal of a limited contingent of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, which for more than nine years honorably fulfilled their international duty and demonstrated courage and patriotism.  As many as 11 500 residents of Tatarstan took part in military actions and our duty is to preserve the memory of those events,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

He emphasized that it is important to support families of veterans and to educate young people with examples of true patriotism and reminded that events with participation of internationalist soldiers  are to be held in all cities of the republic.

The Rais of Tatarstan reminded that the holy month of Ramadan starts at the sunset on 18 February and gave an errand to ensure safety during religious rites and services.

Rustam Minnikhanov also drew the attention of the meeting participants to the fact that weather conditions in the region remain challenging due to snowfalls and temperature fluctuations and gave an errand to monitor the condition of road surface on highways, to ensure snow removal from sidewalks and courtyards, and pay special attention to removing snow and ice from the roofs of residential buildings and public facilities.
