Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a meeting of Anton Alikhanov and Saudi Arabia Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih

On 9 February the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov and Saudi Arabia Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.

Speaking at the meeting, the Rais of the republic emphasized the importance of cooperation with Saudi Arabia for Tatarstan within the framework of relations of our countries. He also stated that representatives of Saudi Arabia are in the group of active participants of the Russia-the Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.

As far as economy is concerned, Rustam Minnikhanov said that in Tatarstan the experience of the country is being actively studied within the framework of the "Vision 2030" strategy, primarily in terms of developing a green economy and digitalization.

“In recent years, the trade turnover between the republic and Saudi Arabia has been growing steadily, but remains quite modest. According to results of nine months in 2025 it made 72m dollars US. We have every opportunity to expand trade, economic and investment cooperation,” he emphasized and briefly spoke about branches which could be interesting for cooperation, in particular Halal products export and working through Islamic banking instruments.

The Rais of the republic noted that to get acquainted with the republic closer it would be useful to take part in the International Economic Conference “Russia-the Islamic world: KazanForum” and also told about the presentation of Kazan as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World 2026 held in Jeddah on 8 February.

In his turn Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for a detailed account of the economic and industrial potential of Tatarstan and stated that the republic is of great interest to Saudi Arabia, specifically as an entry point for investments into Russia. He said that a delegation of the Kingdom will definitely take part in the upcoming KazanForum.
